Hi, For simplicity I use one "source parameters file" that will be derived into all my designs.  An error occurs, when in the assembly file.  I need the derived subassembly to be driven by the final assembly parameters so a 🔪"break link" is in order to access the subassemblies parameters in the assembly file.

What are the best practices in this workflow?

For example let's say the assembly is a custom sized kitchen "cabinet" and the subassembly is "drawer"

the usual approach here is to just derive the design containing your parameters into every design in your model.  You should be able to derive that parameter model into the leaf-level parts, into sub-assemblies, and even into the top-level assembly.  The parameters should then be available everywhere.  You should not have to Break Link unless you want to change an inserted design somehow.

Thanks @jeff_strater for the best practices tip.

I will need to change inserted design so I will the break link.  On the third try, I did not get the error when breaking the link.

I will try to reproduce this error in future tests and update result in this post.....but very glad it works now!
