Hi,
I have an asembly that have 11 combinations of 5 different boxes and 5 different doors.
lets say door 1 will appear 4 times and door 2 will appear 3 times in the assembly.
I need to take some renders which will have different material/appearances for each doors. But when I apply a material on one instance of say door 1, it will be reflected on all door 1s. Is there a way to unlink the doors?
Thank you.

Your question is missing some important information, so I will propose two solutions that might work If I understand correctly:
1. If they are literally linked - imported as a different design, though from the same project, and they have a little chain like icon next to them, Right Click, then click "Break Link".
2. Or you created a component and then copied it in the same design, in this case, you have to go back in the timeline, and instead of that do:
- Right click the desired component (in Browser),
- Click Copy,
- Right click on the main component (the name of the Design) and click Paste New,
- Now you have a copy that is not linked.
--If 2. is the case, I can explain why this is happenning if you want.
Thank you for your suggestion.
There was no chain. it is as shown in the image below.
I uploaded all my assembly files from my server which were designed in inventor.
But I've found the solution. There is a "make independent" option when we right click on the component. It fixes my issue.
If you have a " make independent " option , then you are working in direct modeling mode and are not capturing the design history.
Maybe that's what you want, but I thought I'd point it out.
I am new to F360, Just took into 360 for renders.
They have ripped showcase from 2018 package and inventor studio was no giving satisfactory renders.
If you don't actually design anything or only have slight modifications to make, such as adding chamfers and fillets for better reflections and highlights then direct modeling will work perfectly for that!
