Editing copied component

Good morning

I'm designing a box to be laser-cut. I've made a component for the back, but I want a cutout on the front only.

Currently, if I copy the component, any changes I make to one apply to the other. I don't want to lose this (in case I have to resize it), but I want to be able to add the cutout to just one instance of the component.

Is this possible on a personal licence, or do I have to create a new component from scratch if I want it to be different?

Thanks

Chris

Yes, use Copy / Paste New.

Might help....

past/new is a good way.  it makes the 2 components completely independent of each other.  if you want to keep some dependency between the two, have a look at the attached model.  and a video to go with it-

Thanks - yes, I want to keep a little dependency.

For example one side will have a cutout for a USB port, but I still want them both to resize if I change the dimensions of the model.

Thanks for your help.
