Drawings - Hole and Thread Note AWOL

Just me or has Hole and Thread Notes in the Drawings workspace gone missing ??

Edit:  To clarify:

  • If I open an old drawing (created about August 2021) and attempt H/T Note - works ok.
  • Model I have been working on since December and Drawing I created yesterday ... H/T Note doesnt want to select the edge of any holes.

Hi @gvisca44 ,

Are you facing issue only with specific file or for all newly created files?

Can you please share the file (.f3z) to check the behaviour on our side?

cc: @rohit.bapat

Thanks,

Hello @gvisca44

We are very sorry to know that you are facing this issue. I am able to reproduce the issue with the files provided although not able to reproduce if the drawing is created from scratch. Nevertheless, I have created a ticket for the development team to look at.

I would like to know if you used any template to create the drawing?

Attachment provided here - thanks !

BTW - your forum app wouldnt let me attach an F2T file (invalid file type) ... so I have zipped it.

Hi there,

Having a similar issue with a drawing note. ID threads on the right are no problem but external threads cannot be selected on the left. Created a simple bolt and external thread was not able to be selected.

Hello @acoleman10

Sorry to know that you are facing this issue. We already worked on this issue and the solution should be available soon to the users once the validation is complete.

Meanwhile, can you please share the f3z file and also the template used to create the drawings (if any) so that we can validate our fix against this data set?

For now the workaround is to create a temporary base view and delete it.

Apparently this issue has yet to be fixed. I cannot get the Hole and Thread note feature to function properly, regardless of whether I use our drawing Template or Create New, even though all of the hole features are created using the hole function. What's really odd, is that Fusion thinks an edge has been selected, but doesn't highlight the selected edge when making said selection. Really disappointing when a company is aware of an issue for an extended period of time and does nothing to remedy it.

I'm not able to reproduce the issue with designs that have been made using the hole command.
This behavior seems to happen with sketched holes.

Are you able to share your design so that we can investigate further?

Here is the file that is exhibiting the issue. They were exported from a larger assembly.

@klschofield
With the attached files I don't see any design history indicating the hole feature.
HolesAndThreads.JPG
Without that information the Hole and Thread notes will not work.

Like I said, they were exported from a larger assembly, one which I'm not at liberty to share. All the components are still linked to the original, which have the features you've highlighted, and should carry over so long as the file is still linked. However, I typically generate the thread feature within the Hole command and check the box that indicates whether the threads should be modeled or not on a case by case basis, rather than using a separate thread function.

I checked the original assembly file and the Hole and Thread feature functions as expected when generating a drawing. I'll have to keep that in mind for future assemblies when working top down. I figured that that type of information was within the assembly contexts, and if the exported component was still linked to the original file, that information chain would be available when generating a drawing.

Thanks for the follow up.

For exported files, or files with no feature history the following should help.

Can someone tell me why "Hole and Thread Note" doesnt work with derived parts? Parts from assemblies and derived out for machining all the time? Major oversight.
People should also be able to use the "Inspect > Measure" command on a tapped hole and get the size.
