Drawing Workspace Cursor Feedback

It would be helpful if the drawing environment could implement some cursor feedback as to what tool is active.

It is easy to get confused that the dimension tool is still active when you want to select a dimension and drag it.

Hi @Lonnie.Cady ,

Thank you for your feedback towards enhancement of the Product.

Meantime, can you try workaround below, this will help to address your concern at the moment;

Each of the toolbar command can be pinned to toolbar and the active command appears highlighted while in use.

Definitely your suggestions also need a review from Product Management team.

Will be creating a internal ticket for tracking purpose.

Has any thought been given to this?

It's available in the model workspace when sketching.  Can't tell how many times I am trying to select a dimension only to have to look to see if a tool is active and then cancel it.

Any thoughts on this.  Why do it in modeling workspace but not drawing?

Hi @Lonnie.Cady ,

Please help me to confirm the expected behaviour from the video below:

  • "User expecting the Dimension drag feature when dimension command is active"
  • >> This behaviour is found working fine in Modeling Sketch environment but not in drawings or drawing sketch

(view in My Videos)

Hello @suryawa

So what I was looking for is the small glyph/icon that shows up next to the cursor to identify which tool is active.

Many other CAD systems have this along with Fusion in the model sketch environment.

I would provide a picture but it does not show up in a screen capture.  Just go to a sketch and click on the rectangle tool and you will see it.   I know the tool bar icon highlights when a tool is active but obviously there is some value in the feedback at the cursor or it would not be in other areas.

Now dragging a sketch dimensions to allow the position to change with out deactivation of the dimension tool would be welcome addition as well.

Thanks @Lonnie.Cady for your inputs & clarification.

@anirudha_kul , can you please address this enhancement request further?

  • User expectation is: There should be a glyph/icon, next to the cursor as shown in image below - for drawing envirnment...!
