Drawing - stand alone feature control frame (in notes)

Is there a way yet to put a feature control frame in a note or somehow standalone without attachment to a feature of the model?

I basically want to have a general note stating "unless otherwise specified the following profile tolerance applies....."

Thanks!

Aww I watched that before, and watched again now haha! Thank you but no, I'm looking to put a feature control frame in the general notes. When you try to add a feature control frame it only lets you attach it to a feature of the part from what I see so far.

Here is what I am trying to get to, this is what we do at "the day job".  This is in accordance with ANSIY14.5, and I want to continue complying with this standard.

Thanks for any help!  Do I have to make a JPG and insert into the drawing or something funky like that?

Is this something that would need to be created separately somehow and brought in as an image?  Or is there some way to create a "detached" or "free" Feature Control Frame?

I found a workaround!  Its a bit hokey but, hey, the end result is functional and the drawing looks good!  I create a "seed" FCF first, then place the "real" FCF, and delete the "seed".  It is now disassociated, but I seem to have no other choice.

I can live with it for now.  But is Autodesk planning on allowing a "free standing" Feature Control Frame in any upcoming releases?

Hi Case,

I was going to suggest the same workaround that you already tried. That's the only possible option now.

Currently, there is no plan to allow "free standing" Feature Control Frame in our roadmap.

You can visit this roadmap to  follow the progress of what the Drawings teams are working on : https://app.mural.ly/t/timerahart2/m/timerahart2/1475171276107/0945259b7c22117012173ea2be3c9151fec1f...

How does one create a 'seed' FCF? I am trying do this same thing now.
Cheers.

Many thanks for this workaround.

Floating/general FCF's are necessary. I cannot believe there is simply no traction to add this...

Eh,

Here is a video that shows how to do it. Cheers

That's the same workaround I had suggested by planting a "seed" FCF, but hoping that someday Fusion just allows a TRUE free standing FCF.  I am sure they will get there eventually but have higher priorities.

There's an alternative workflow using Y14.5 font from this site:

It's kind of tricky to use the font but you can give it a try...
