Drawing is write protected ?????

Anonymous

Good Morning,

Wondering if you could help me, I have drawn my model and started a drawing from that design, then when I come to save it says the drawing is write protected.

I'm the owner of the project and the only person making changes.

How do I stop the drawing from being write protected? otherwise I am unable to save any changes to the drawing?

Kind Regards,

Ryan Green

Hi Ryan Green,

Welcome to Fusion forum and Thanks for posting your issue.

This is a unusual situation which we haven’t encountered in fusion drawings yet.
I see that your drawing is already in version 5, which says you have already saved for 5 times and something went wrong.

I could think of few scenario’s here:

1. Can you check if you have rights to your temp folder.

2. Is it possible to share your f3z file (can attach the file here or send to keshava.gopalakrishnaiah@autodesk.com)
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How...

3. From fusion, export to dwg and open in ACAD and check if you see the same message there https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Drawin...

Is there any real resolution on the "drawing protected" issue?  I have to say it is really really inconvenient to either save-as a whole new name, which sometimes works, or make one or two changes in a minute, save it, and hope that the work stays.

I cannot believe for what a great solid modeling software this is the drafting package is so bad.  This makes CATIA V5 seem easy.  I mean really, the work around is Save-As forever.  I am at Version 40 working on something for an hour.

1. If someone actually has a workaround, please let me know. I am administrator to my laptop and have read write control of everything, still, write proteced.

2. Judging how many threads there are, this has been an ongoing issue for years.  Does Autocad want to keep the Autocad users happy by keeping this product lousy for drafting

3. Is there any way to actually dress up a drawing instead of having to solid model everything?
