Drawing Details

I have created a mold assembly for a rubber injection mold.

Having come from a UniGraphics NX background I have created leader pins and bushings that have 'False Bodies' to subtract the clearance and press fit holes for the pins and bushings.

The problem comes when I want to make a drawing of the leader pin.

I click File>New Drawing>From Design; I then uncheck Full Assembly and pick the leader pin.

Only the leader pin body is visible in the assembly because the 'False Body' of the leader pin is hidden due to the subtract.

When the drawing Base View is created, both bodies show up.

Is there a way to only show one body in the drawing? The body of the leader pin and not the False Body?

Thank you.

Brad

This may be something you already know, sorry...

If the Leader Pin is not a component, seleting it selects everything, even if the "Full Assembly" is unchecked. It will select either : 1) Single components that you choose, or 2) Full assembly, even if you don't explicitly choose it. At least, this is my experience.

If the Leader Pin is a component already, make sure the false body is not a part of that component, otherwise, seleting the Leader Pin will select both of them (once again, in my experience...this may not be proper behavior).

If you need to make it into a component, right click the body in the Browser and choose "Create component from body".

Hope this helps!

Hi Brad,

To add to what Autumn.S has pointed out, selecting the full assembly or a component for drawing from the Model workspace will select all bodies under it, even if their visibility has been turned off. We can see the outline of the body being selected as in the example below:

This is in contrast to the Animation workspace where visibility status is taken into account when a drawing is created from an animation storyboard.

In your case, you could move the faslsebody to a new component and exclude it from the drawing. Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Krithika

Not the best solution, but it works by creating another component/body.

Thanks.
