Drawing browser becoming too long to navigate

The drawing browser is too long to easily navigate.  For example, if I have the sketch folder in order to activate a certain sketch, when I open it it fills the entire height of the screen.  I can't delete any of the sketches because there are downstream dependencies, so they're just making it very difficult to navigate.  Is there a way I can collapse older sketches, or complete components, like make a "finished" folder and put such things in that folder.

Thanks!

Hi, thanks for posting.

I'd have to see a screen shot of your browser to see for sure, but I think I can picture the situation.  Yes, sometimes the browser does get awfully long, and you have to scroll a lot.

Today, there is no way to do any sort of user-defined folders to help organize things.  The only real organizational tool is components.  If your design lends itself to this, putting pieces into subassemblies can help collapse the top-level browser into a more manageable size.

Beyond that, just making sure that you close all the top level nodes in the browser can help.  I usually keep everything collapsed unless I am specifically looking for something, or working on a piece of the design, in which case I will expand that section.

There are two tools that I use a lot.  One is  "Find in Browser":

browser 1.png

With something selected, right click and choose "Find in Browser", and this will expand the browser to that item, and also auto-scroll so that it is visible.

The second thing that I use is the "something below me is selected" visual indicator (AKA "squiggle highlight"  Smiley Happy):

browser 3.png

Hopefully this can help a bit manage your browser

Thank you ... that "find in browser" is very helpful.  Putting things in components has helped a lot, though my list of components is getting quite large.

Thanks!
