Draft on text

Hi,

I can't seem to apply a draft on a text that I wrote in Fusion 360, giving me the following error:

"Error: The operation could not create a valid result.
Try adjusting the values or changing the inputs."

How can I resolve this problem?
Thanks a lot.

some fonts and/or imported svg curves have horrible geometry when examined up close.  Looking at the picture you posted, I would say that is the case here.  Attach your exported .f3d file here and someone can show you.

Thanks a lot for you reply.

Here is the file of the project.

Do you know if I can do something to solve the problem?

The geometry starts off very bad.  Going in to edit the extrude feature fixed it, but I'm at a loss to explain way what I did had any effect. @jeff.strater , what's going on here-

@laughingcreek - I have a theory here, but I'm not 100% confident in it.

First of all, you are correct.  The reason that the draft fails is all those faces/edges in the model.  The modeling kernel struggles with "near tangencies" in the geometry.  The original model has lots of nearly tangent edges.

As to why editing the Extrude fixes it (for you, and me, as well), this is extruded sketch text - it has not been "exploded" into sketch curves.  So, my theory is that the original model is using a font that you and I don't have on our systems, so it is defaulting to a different font with a much simpler representation.  You'll notice that after the edit, the A in your model has sharp corners and a much simpler outline.

@Anonymous - in general, font information tends to be very noisy like this.  You can almost always Extrude it, but downstream features, such as fillet, chamfer, or draft, are going to be problematic on some fonts.
