Does fusion 360 catalog various versions of a file?

When saving files, how are they archived? 

Is it the users responsibility to "save as" and rename various versions of a file or does fusion 360 auto catalog every version and revision separately?

Each time you do a regular save a new version is created and can be found like this. 

If you do a save as then there is no previous versions saved with that file.
