Distribute objects in Sketch evenly on Construction line between points

Hi,

I'm creating a sketch of a Print Board and I would like to distribute holes along a construction line, I know how to do it in 3D but is it also possible in a Sketch?

See attached screenshot.

Thanks!

Create a sketch pattern with the Extend option. Extend is the distance between the first and last pattern instance. The tool will then will fill the distance specified for Extend with the number of patterned objects you specify.

This is an old thread, but any way to get a bit more explanation here?  Been hammering at this for an hour (total newbie who's been watching videos for a few weeks).  Basically in my sketch I have a big rectangle and I want to create several little rectangles and distribute them evenly across the center of the big rectangle.  I'm about to give up and just do it manually.

Help appreciated!

In the active sketch, select Rectangular Pattern from the Sketch Toolbar Menu.

Select the geometry to be patterned (the small rectangle).

Set the Distance type to either Extent or Spacing.  Extent will give you objects evenly spaced over the distance. Spacing will give you objects spaced a specific distance apart.

I'm not sure if I understand what you want to do, but I've created a short screen cast that might bring some more details.

BTW: By using the rectangular pattern function you don't have to create patterns in two directions.

You're welcome. Sidenote: What I've learned here is to prefer pattern as a
feature over sketch based patterns. The first one is more flexible and
stable.

One nice thing about patterns in sketches is you can modify the individual items without changing the others (You do have to remove the pattern constraint first).  You can also modify individual items in Direct Modeling mode by making them independent.  In Timeline mode, you have to make a copy of the item, then paste new in order to make individual changes.

One does have to be aware that creating a large number of items in a pattern will bring Fusion 360 to its knees.

@etfrench: That's a very good example for prefering the sketch environment.
