Discrepancy in dimension (Design vs. Drawing)

I'm relatively new to Fusion 360, having recently switched from Sketchup and still learning my way through.

While attempting to create a drawing (Part List) for a simple shape, I noticed a slight discrepancy between the linear dimension shown in the Drawing and the actual design measurement.  The difference is small but noticeable.

I would greatly appreciate your assistance in troubleshooting this problem.

Perhaps one is a face dimension (200) and one is a dimension in axis Z?

Well, I am not sure. In the sketch, it's 200 mm.

You 2D Drawing view is not "exactly" aligned so you are getting a small error.  If you create a aligned view, it will dimension properly as shown in the attached screen capture.

Thank you for the reply...

I have selected the top view for the Base View and have not realigned the drawing at all. Would you please provide some guidance to ensure the propper alignment of drawings? or point me to a documentation or online tutorial.

Thank you,

Take a look a the video for one process to get what you need.  There are others but this one fits you situation, I believe, the best.  Do not forget to select the Accept Solution icon if this solves your issue.

Thank you @jhackney1972  for your time making the video. It was very well articulated. I believe I need to be conscious of view alignment in 2D drawing.

Thank you gain.

This is great, but how did you determine what piece was at an angle? For example, if my dimensions differ between my design and my drawing, how do I figure out what component or body is causing the issue?

You need to attach the MODEL giving you an issue and also point out which dimensions do not agree.

If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it. If needed, ZIP a F3Z file.

Thank you very much for your response. I will preface this with I am not great with Fusion, so I appreciate your help. I have attached the model.

The issue is I am unsure of any of the dimensions in the drawing now. Here are a couple examples:
1. Model - 1/8

2. Drawing - 1/4

second example:

1. Model - 20 3/8

2. Drawing - 20 1/2

You are using Fractional Dimensions and your Linear Precision is set to low, you have it probably set to 1/4 and it should be set to a value smaller than your smallest dimension.  I would set it to 1/32 and forget it.  What it is doing is rounding to the nearest linear precision giving you a false dimension.  Please remember, you must set the Linear Precision BEFORE placing the first dimension or double click on the previous dimension and update.

You are using a Forum post that is old but if my answer stills solves your question, you can please select the "Accept Solution" on my post, or ask further questions.
