Destiny gun handle problems.

Hi there,

I'm about to start modelling the Gaheris-D handcannon from Destiny in Fusion 360 and for the most part I'm confident I can achieve the appearence I want for the majority of the item. The handle however is giving me problems. I've attempted several test models to try and get the desired result but have been unlucky thus far. I've tried making it using simple extrudes/chamfers/fillets, lofts and the sweep and replace face features. I'm yet to try the free form-scult tools available but I'm uncertain that these will provide the look I'm going for. I don't have any problems creating features like the indents up the front and rear of the handle.

Any help or suggestions in regards to this matter would be greatly appreciated!!

Here some images of the feature I'm trying to replicate,

Many thanks,

Julian

can you sahre your fusion model?

also this surface is complex and might push fusion.

however looking at the images I see different possible surfacing strategies with additive and subtractive modeling approaches.

best way to figure these things out (i let me students do this always) is to model this out of foam with a saw sand paper and files

so they can figure out the steps. very often those manual steps are then the same you can use in cad.

Hi there Mr Kuhnen,

I'm afraid I don't have the model anymore as I deleated it in frustration (I shall learn from my mistakes)!!

Modelling it out in real life doesn't seem like a bad idea, I'll give it a try. And I guess if all else fails then I can have a crack at sculpting it using boolean operations!

Many thanks,

Julian
