desktop client instances...

If I have Fusion open, and then I click on a file link here in the forum to open up another user's file, a second instance of Fusion opens.

I would prefer the file to open in a new tab in the instance I already have running.

Any ideas please?

@chrisplyler Good question. This only happens in Windows.

In order to open a local design as a new tab, use the File menu > New design from file.

This creates a new Fusion design from the file you open. It gets saved to the cloud the first time you click Save.

Understood... if I have saved the file to my hard drive.

But clicking an attachment link in a forum post offers up the option to just "open file in Fusion 360" and it would be nice to use that shortcut.

I'm no code jockey, but many Windows applications have some code in them that checks for already running instances and don't allow a second instance to open. Perhaps something like that can be added in the Fusion desktop client?

Got it. I've taken some notes and added this feedback to work we are doing in this area. Your voice counts! Thanks for pointing it out.

Thank-you very much.

It's one of those things that isn't a big deal really, but just a little touch that make things seem more polished and user-friendly.
