Desing something to print with elastic filament

Hy community I need some help.

My plan is to design a lock with a elastic "band", more or less in shape of a eight, to 3D print it with elastic material.

The problem is, it is not a flat face where i need it to bee, but want to print it flat. I hope you understand my problem.


Now I would like to know how could I "flaten" my object after designing it in the right shape, like unfold a sheetmetal.

Sheet metal is actually the prevailing answer to this question.  It's a work around, but does the job. There are lots of threads on this forum about using sheet metal to wrap or unwrap things.  here is a link to a post with lots of good stuff, a quick search will yield even more-
