Designs on a curved surface

Hi guys, I have been using sketch up and I am now tinkering with 360 I mostly use them for jewelry and prop making.

I was wondering how to add designs to curved surfaces here is an example of what I am going for.

For an example like this, yes, you can do this, using a combination of Split Faces and Press/Pull

The basic idea is that you sketch on a plane above your design, use Split Face to imprint the curves onto your curved face, then Press/Pull to insert the design into the solid.

I apologize for the screencast here, I didn't rehearse, just kind of winged it, so I made some mistakes along the way, had to reorder features, etc, to get it all to work.  Hope you can get the gist of it anyway...

There are limits to this technique.  You cannot wrap around an entire closed curved surface.  But, it should work well for this kind of design.
