Designing in perspective view

I just finished designing a small car, and when I got done I realized that I was in perspective view all the time. When I change the view to orthographic the car looks very weird.

If I were to manufacture the car, would the car look like the one in perspective or orthographic?

Perspective view, sorta. You can't view 3D thing in Orthographic view with your eyeballs in the real world. But even Perspective view, at least in F360, a camera distance and location of vanishing points is not something that the user can control, so it may not exactly mimic you standing in a certain place looking at a real car.

How the designed object looks in real life is a matter of how large the object is and what the viewing distance is.

The view modes in Fusion 360 or really any other CAD or 3D modeling application are independent of the actual geometry.

Perspective view usually helps better with judging scale and overall proportions. In the viewport settings this cannot be changed, however if you move into the Render workspace and go into the Setup, you can change the camera focal length and that will provide you with another "perspective" . Might be worth checking out 😉

Hi Fellows,

... although as stated by Mr.Chrisplayer and elaborated by Mr.TippyLighting there is no user interface anchor to control perspective (and orthogonal) view properties there is CameraObject facility within API which addresses the task. It requires however some direct programing work, not necessary straightforward one.
