Designing a simple building, Work flow and rigid group questions

I typically use autocad for such work, but wanted to attempt modeling a small shed in fusion. In inventor it would be a very simple model (largely becuase of my much better understanding of constraints/mates in inventor).

I intended to layout the building on a component contaning a single sketch to help aid in the layout. I extruded 6 4x4 posts as components and attempted to apply an as build group between the layout sketch component and the "Posts" component with my 6 posts as sub components. However each time I do this the posts are free to move.

Is it not possible to have a rigidly group a component and sketch?

Is there a better workflow for such a project that I am just missing?

So far I have liked fusion 360 for modeling simple parts, but I haven't really used it much for anything requiring joints or assemblies.

Any advice at all is appreciated!

Did you try the rigid group instead of the as build joint? For a large number of components that are going to just stand there the rigid group is really the way to go. If you don't want to create a rigid group I think, without knowing your general approach, that it's too early to worry about joints anyway.

You can use a regular, rigid assembly joint to assemble a post to a point ion the layout sketch. If that point in the sketch moves, becaue you changed dimensions in the sketch, the Leg moves with it.
