Derive & properties

Why do solids and sheet metal without flat pattern work like it should and keeps its name and properties, but when you select a flat pattern from a sheet metal part it loses everything and calls it a flat pattern.

See screencast

It seems like the programmers forgot about the flat pattern, and it should keep its name and properties.

Please tell me you are working on fixing this.

It's like baking a cake but you don't put the icing on it.

Just wrong.

Good catch!

Conceptually in the originating design, a flat pattern is a special object just as sketches or bodies are. The properties you are changing are the properties of the component the flat pattern is part of.

However, when derived, the flat pattern appears to become its own component, and perhaps as an option might inherit the properties of the component it was derived from.

@harv.saund this might be a good addition to the next round of feature enhancements for the derive functionality. I;'ve got a couple of suggseti0ns myself 😉

@TrippyLighting thanks Peter, would be awesome if they get this working like we all expect it to work. Keep up the good work.

We will end up with an well oiled machine if we just keep on reporting these mistakes they overlook in programming.
