Here's one way:

  1. On Sketch1 create a polygon with sides equal to the number of triangles in a row (only triangles in top half of row).
  2. Create an offset plane equal to the height of the triangles.
  3. Create a sketch on the plane.
  4. Create a polygon on the sketch equal to the polygon in Sketch1 and rotated half the length of a triangle's top leg.
  5. Construct a three point plane between end points of one triangle.
  6. Create a sketch on the plane.
  7. Draw a triangle between the three points.
  8. Repeat steps 5 through 7 on the adjacent triangle.
  9. Switch to Surface workspace.
  10. Create a patch on each of the triangles from step 7.
  11. Return to Solid workspace.
  12. Use a circular pattern to create the first row of the cylinder.

  1. Use the mirror command or a rectangular pattern to complete the cylinder.

p.s. Change step 4 to a point other than the center of the leg in order to create different sized triangles.
