Creating shell with openings at both ends

Hello everyone,

This is probably a really stupid question but I'm a beginner so...

I am trying to make a solid body into a 1mm shell. When I use the shell command it works, but it only leaves one side of the body open. I want both sides of the body to be open, but if I try deleting the wall from the inside, it deletes other parts as well. If I try from the outside, it just gives me an error message.

Can someone please tell me how to remove this wall?

When you select the shell command, you select the face/s that you want to delete, so iinstead of picking only one side to remove after shelling, select the other side as well
