Creating a Plane NORMAL to view

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi everyone

I need to create a plane "Normal to view" but I did not find any tool useful to do that.
Basically, I have to design a sketch in order to chop the solid according to the screen view. (see picture).

Thanks in advance

There is no create plane normal to view command, today. You can submit a feature request in the Fusion 360 Ideastation.

There are many ways to create construction planes in Fusion 360. You could create a sketch line that represents your view camera angle. Then you can use the plane along path. See the screencast.

This is one of many ways to create construction geometry. One of the available options should enable you to create a construction plane that is oriented to your liking. I hope this help!

Thanks,

Hi @Anonymous,

What are you trying to accomplish here?  You are correct that there is no workplane tool that will create a workplane normal to the view, but that is intentional.  Fusion is a history-based design system, and view orientation is not a history operation.  There is no way to update such a workplane when the design changes.

You will have to create work geometry that defines the plane that you want to use as the slicing plane, and use that in a Section View Analysis.

Many thanks,

This trick is reasonably quick.

Thanks again
