Hi Everyone,

I am trying to create a metric M82x.75 thread on a model.

How do you go about editing the pitch?

Thanks in advance

i've gone through the steps for creating a custom thread.

I see that changing tpi works.

I see adjusting the thread angle works.  ie I'm using 29deg, not 60deg.

I see that putting in thread min/max/pitchdiameter works.

I don't see why it needs PD.  I don't see what CTD means or it's use.  I don't see what "SortOrder" is for, unless it's to organize the xml file in the drop down for the fusion360 drop down.

I am trying to create a Stub Acme, which is an acme but shorter.  So with my inputs to a custom thread i get this really thin looking thread because the root width of a SA is much wider.  0.0371"  Internal 0.0396" External.  When I measure what fusion360 is giving me, it's 0.013" root width or something like that.  I need it 3x wider....

Does anyone know how to get a custom thread xml the last little bit towards a reasonable thread?

I am having the EXACT same problem... I built and debugged 3/4" - 2" SA threads in 8, 10, and 12 TPI... and now the model of my threads looks like the machinist got his timing off...

On the upside, I plan to share my SA threads with the community once this is sorted.

There is a bug with trapezoidal threads, reported a couple of years ago.

Thanks a lot. You made my day. Was able to make a M49x0.75 mm thread for a lens.

@Anonymous did you ever figure this one out?  I know you said that you planned on sharing you SA threads with the community, just checking up on that.  I have an employee that is about to put in the work and create this and if we don't have to put in the work we won't.  Thanks for all of your help in advance for this.

Hi. Did you ever get this working?

I found out that the errors thrown regarding "error building thread tool" are related to the thread parameters in the XML rather than an XML modification error. For instance I got an error adding a M25X0.75 thread but it worked for M25X0.85.

By using an online thread calculator I was able to correctly update the thread data for 0.75 and it accepted the thread specification

Hi,

I managed to do a custom thread for fishing rod-pods a few years back and it did works well. The problem was, every time Fusion was updating, they weren't moving the custom threads into the new updated folder and you had to go in the old folders and copy it to the new one. And I remember the process of making the threads was a pain in the back.
