Create small holes cylinder

I want to create a pattern of small holes on the outer surface of the cyclinder. I have seen some posts that show how to create small holes that go straight through the cylinder but I just want the holes extruded on the surface maybe like -1mm - 1.5mm inside. Would I need to create a seperate component that replicates the cylinder surface or any other ideas how I could do this?

Have also attached stl file

Have you tried the Hole tool and just select the surface.

Then use circular pattern and select the feature from the time line at the bottom of the screen.

May I just borrow this thread for a while?

Mark, I have done what you just suggested but seems to lack the way forwards. I want to have the complete surface of the cylinder filled with holes. It is a rotating screen to sieve out smaller pieces of material. I would like to copy this ring of holes and continue downwards with them. if possible slightly adjusted in side but i can live with a sqyare pattern of holes. here's a picture:

Solved it. Just had to go for a walk and breathe some fresh air.

made one hole and from this a rectangular pattern down the length of the cylinder.

made a circular pattern of this row of holes around the cylinder next.

Hi!

It is my first day on Fusion 360. What do you mean by you first did a rectangular pattern down the cylinder? How did you do that? I am trying to do the same sieve pattern but on a disk shaped object. Could you explain your steps a bit more detailed if possible? Very much appreciated!!

Best regards

Hi,

1. Sketch 1 circle

2. extrude/cut the circle

3. create 1 rectangular pattern

4. create circular patterns with individuell qty of instances

I do have another question. How do you get the edit feature command? There is a jump in the screencast and i can't make it out how you get there.
