Create points where 2 planes intersect a surface?

Hi everyone,

I'm working with an STL file, and would like to measure the coordinates of each point on a regular grid on the top surface of the object. I created a grid of planes where I need them, but can't find a way to create a point where they intersect with the object. I'm sure there's a simpler way to accomplish this, but haven't been able to figure it out. I initially tried to sketch the grid, and extrude the lines to the surface. However, the extrude command doesn't work with individual lines - only enclosed shapes I think?

Can anyone please advise?

Thanks

I am looking at your request and noticed your statement at the end.  Fusion 360 can Extrude un-closed profiles in two ways.  In the Screencast, I showed the Thin Extrude command method but you also can go to the Surface environment and Extrude a single line as a surface.  I am dreaming on the solution to your main request.

Ok, here is my suggestion.  In the Screencast I show you how to get a section line for any part of your mesh skull using the Create Mesh Section Sketch command.  Then you create another, or edit the existing, sketch and use the Fit Curves to Mesh Section command, in the sketch environment, to create various entity types you can get points from.
