Create miter cuts

I have a design with 4 components (2 x 2 angle). I want to trim the components to make mitered corners. How can this be done?

2. Create a sketch.
3. Project the outlines
4. Draw lines at the miters' positions
5. Close the geometry by drawing rectangles (if necessary)
6. Extrude the geometry using the Cut option to remove unwanted portions of each side
