Create lip groove

I want to create an enclosure with two parts coming together as smooth as possible. I want to acheive this by creating a lip groove so the two parts interface together. Something similar to this tutorial in Solidworkds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kq1jNkvByyo

How would I do this in Fusion 360?

Hello Andrew,

Besides writing a script, there is no Lip/Groove command, but you already knew that.

Take a look at the file.

Mind you, this is by no means the only way to create this, but I found this a rather quick way.

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Ludo

Yes, there is no high-level lip/groove feature in Fusion as in that video.

However, you can get a pretty good lip just using Sweep:

starting point:

start by putting a Workplane on Path around the split edge:

Create a sketch on this plane, then add some geometry that defines your lip:

Then, use Sweep to remove material from one side:

Then, using the same sketch, add material to the other side:

then, you have a nice lip that fits together (I've moved the top up to show the geometry):

Hope that helps you
