Create a Flat Pattern out of a Revolved surface

I have taken a curve and revolved it to make a complex curved surface.  It is actually a gore for a balloon - so it is a slice out of a 360 degree solid (sphere-ish) shape.  I want to flatten it to make a pattern to cut out the gore panel so that when the panels are attached to each other it creates the balloon.  I can't seem to find a way to create the flat pattern - I've been trying the sheet metal menus but the 'create a flat pattern' function will not work.

How do I do this?

Thank you!

The sheet metal environment has some functions to flattening objects, but IMHO this is not suitable here. IMHO there is no other feature in Fusion 360 that can solve your script. But there is an external tool / service that can do what you want:

I haven't tried it, but @Beyondforce (the creator of the video) is a well know and active member of this community. So i guess it's pretty valid to give it a try.

You might be able to Flatten this in free Autodesk Meshmixer.

@TheCADWhisperer: Hey - I should look more often into Meshmixer. Looks promising to me:
