Create a copy of sketch and extrude new sketch under angle both in a new component

Hi All,

 

I've been struggling to create a copy of an existing sketching to a new component.

And after that, creating and angle extrude of it. ( angle may be based on center point of it or some other defined point ).

 

But I seem to be already struggling with the first part of the process. Even copying a sketch from 1 component to a new component...

 

Hope some one can clarify me on the process for this. ( copying and creating an angle extrude of the sketch)

I've attached the project if some one is curious in detail.

 

detailed description:

I want to create a wedge in a certain angle based on the "deurbel achterplaat" component , using some parts of sketch especially the holes and form of the sketch.

The process of copying a sketch and placing in on an angled plane, then extruding it is covered in the video.  By the way, you should fully constrain your sketches.  I did not for the sake of time in the video.

Hi John,

 

Thank you very much for the explanation !

But it seems that my question wasn't clear enough. Now reading it back I see that's not clear.

 

What I was trying to achieve is to create a wedge backplane for the doorbell.

For example a 5 degree wedge. Now the extrusion is still a straight version of the backplate

 

And maybe you can elaborate a little bit more about the fully constrained part.

Seems that's I'm missing / no knowing that part good enough 🙂

Oef still in a learning curve hehe. 

I did get it to fit on each other within fusion 360.

 

But don't know how to design it relative to each other though 😄

I do not know your full intent but I will show in the video how to make an straight body, 5 degree angle base.  I will also show you what a fully constrained sketch is.  You will notice I created a new Component so it really does not matter where it is located as you will assembly it later to your other components using Assembly Joints.  Model is attached.

I now see what you mean with constraining part. I've got any or hardly any ....

 

Thanks for this video. This was indeed what I was looking for.

Creating an angle backplate for the doorbell. ( doorbell is looking too much to the sky at the moment hehe 😉 )

Is there an easy way to manipulate the height of the angle extrusion?
I see that the height now depends on the offset of the plane.

I believe this is the best way.  You could Extrude it directly out from the angled sketch then place a plane across it and then use Split Body on it to create a different look model.  This will give you a different angle of the body to the top surface.  Model attached.

Or just draw a sketch line at the desired angle and use that to split the body.
