CorelDraw can't read DXF with splines

Hello, as per title - I have a sketch with splines in it, then I extrudу it and create new sketch from the object's face and then I export it as dxf - CorelDraw can't open it, giving me "Unrecoverable Error" and then a data reading error. Also SolidWorks imports dxf, but skips splines. Also plugin "dxf export with polylines" doesn't help - Corel can't open it either. This problem already was mentioned on forums, but didn't find a simple solution. Is there some way to export it from Fusion directly, and if not - could you recommend some kind of simple converter, which could help. Just in case I'll attach f3d and dxf. Thanks in advance.

A recent update - outer gear teeth open fine separately, so the problem is with splines, also I asked a friend to try this file in AutoCAD - the one created with "save as DXF" can't be opened with an "incomplete" error, and the one created with polylines plug-in has some mess instead of lines. So apparently there's a problem with my sketch, would be grateful for advise.

Try creating a full size drawing.  and export as PDF. Not a great way but has worked for me in the past.

I imported your part in corel and there are issues with the fillets, I them and it came in ok.

not an answer but maybe it helps

Hi sophet206,

so I was able to take your dxf file and open it successfully in both AutoCAD 2016(mac version) and Adobe Illustrator CC.  I've attached both an AI and SVG file for you.

One thing to note is that DXF does not translate splines very well, they convert as many segments, while the rational curves (circles, arcs, etc.) come in as AI bezier curves.

I suspect that the version of Corel you're using may not support the latest version of DXF and this is the version that Fusion is using; we don't currently have the ability to back rev to an older version of DXF.

Are you running the latest version of Corel/Solid Works/AutoCAD?

the path you want through in Fusion is the right one, so I suspect the problem is on DXF translators that are not supporting the latest version.

hope this helps and happy to answer more questions.

hope this helps,

It actually worked, thanks a lot. Although it created weird steps on some curves, but it's a good alternative.

hi sophet206,

it may be worth installing a 15 day trial of Corel Draw and see if it works.  Ultimately we'd like to support previous versions of DXF in our translators, it's just a question of weighing against other priorities.

This has already been submitted in our Idea Station, you can cast your vote for it and the more votes it gets the sooner we'll get to prioritizing the capability.

hope this helps,

Upgrading to X8 fixes the issue and works as @JamieGilchrist  says.

It's weird, according to TMC.Engineering everything should be fine, but I get the same error http://puu.sh/rHKNW/69edcf26d8.png

Already tried Inkscape - also had errors. I guess I'll use Illustrator for now, until I'll have a chance to try activated Corel x8. Thanks everyone for your time.
