Consecutive numbers sketch

I'm trying to create a scale to engrave numbers. I downloaded the Consecutive Numbers plugin, but no matter what I do it doesnt seem to obey the spacing rule correctly. Any advice or other way of patterning a text sketch to feature consecutive numbers easily?
