Confusion with rest machining

I'm using the "flat" operation to machine the larger horizontal surfaces of this part and leaving radial stock of .020".  I'm following that with a 2D contour for one area and I'm using a 2D pocket with rest machining on to clear the smaller pockets and areas in the larger pocket not reached by the larger cutter in the flat operation.  It should also (to my understanding) be removing the radial stock left behind in the large pocket, but it's not.  It doesn't go around the perimeter of the pocket at all and only clears the areas not reachable by the larger cutter.  Is there some reason it's not removing the extra .020" on the walls?

The 2D-strategies arent aware of the ""real"" rest-material like the 3D-strategies are. They calculate it based on your settings (tool_diameter/corner_Radius).

So if you set your tool_diameter to 20mm, the 2D-strategie will calculate where your tool could machine the feature you selected- wich implies all your walls until you get to a corner_radius of 10mm. The strategie does not know if you've set a radial stock to leave in your previous operation. If you want this, you have to use a 3D-strategie.

I would recommend doing a single 2D-contour to finish your walls or switching to 3D-strategies if you want your rest-material to be calculated correctly.
