Configured Workholding Template Buggy/Broken

So I built a Configured Workholding template back in May and its worked Flawlessly up until when I opened it yesterday and found that the Joints on some of the configuration appear to be broken/ misbehaving.

See Video for what's happening.

I'm really struggling to figure out how/where it gone wrong or if this is a bug?

I haven't made any changes to the file since May

Also why does the forum STILL not allow uploading of some .f3z files?

@seth.madore , can you please move this to the manufacturing section of the forum?

This Forum post is about Configurations so it is in the correct Forum.  The components may be used in machining but that does not mean it should be moved.

Hmm, In retrospect the title is probably not the best, I should have put "Configured Design" rather than "Configured Workholding Template"

Any way if you guys have any insights it would be valuable to know if this is a bug or just an error on my Part.

I'll tag @karina.harper to have a look too.

Cheers

Accepted solution

Have you tried rebuilding it by pressing Ctrl + B?

Edit: press control + B after you have selected the dodgy configuration.

I had the same problem when I tried building up a configured work holding template configuring the suppression of components.   Ctrl-B will resolve it, but you need to keep using Ctrl-B often when you make changes.

With the help of James Mann at Autodesk I was able to build one up using a few different sub assemblies configuring the insert of the component which does not suffer from the same refresh issue.

Any chance you are going to Autodesk University?  James and I are doing a presentation on the Tuesday afternoon showing how to build it up.

@mattdlr89  Thanks this does indeed work

@matthewyatesHRCK5 I won't be going to AU, NZ is a bit far away for me to shell out money for that and Work won't pay for it.

I did see you and James' presentation in the CAB though.

It is interesting that I need to use Rebuild as it used to work fine. this seems to be an Issue with Configurations that Autodesk need to work on, I never would have found Control-B to rebuild/Compute all by myself

Yeah, that's far less than ideal, for sure

@a.laasW8M6T

It started happening for me rather early on in my adventure with configurations.

I brought it up to the configurations team at AU last year and they noted to investigate it further, but I haven't seen any update on it.

Same here, it's been a common problem for us since I started using configured designs on our workholding. At some point I will rebuild our workholding template taking the best practice shown by you @matthewyatesHRCK5.

This looks like a problem that has been fixed internally fairly recently and should be in next release or so. I downloaded the f3z and could not produce the bad states by changing configurations using the fixed build.

The issue is related to parameters in a theme table. The rebuild all approach will work for now but obviously that should not be required and is pretty heavy and easy to miss.
