Combine will not select a target body

I am trying to combine (cut) a body with a tool body - the the combine tool will not select the body I want to cut as the target body - but will select it as the tool body - why?   I have made a screen recording showing this.

Why?  The Target Body is linked to an external file.

You are trying to select an "External" body as the target body.  Since you are asking the application to modify an external file, without Edit in Place being selected, it cannot be selected.  If you are using a Personal License, Edit in Place, is not available.  You can Break Link on the External file and then it can be selected.

Found Problem/Solution. the Body I was selecting was imported and still linked to the original file - when I broke the link I could select the body - It would have helped it there had been some sort of warning - note.
