Combine In Assembly

I am trying to make some soft jaws in fusion 360. I have programmed my first operation in CAM and am now ready to cut that part from my soft jaws and edit them. I imported the model into an assembly and positioned everything the way I want. When I try to use the combine tool, the components wont let me select them. What is the quickest solution to this?

The "target body" that you want to use Combine with must be in the active document.  When you say that you imported the design into an assembly, did you use the "insert into current design"?  Does the item in the browser have a link icon in it?  You cannot modify a linked design from the parent assembly.  You would have to open that document in a new tab to modify it.

Alternatively, if you are not interested in associativity with the source model, you can select the instance and choose Break Link, which will copy it locally, and you can edit it in the parent assembly.

I have a few subassemblies in here with it. I just broke the link with the parent and it worked great. Thanks!
