Cloning of components with minor changes

Hi there,

assume I have a component and want to make copies with minor changes to some design parameters e.g. a length or a width value. Do I need to make a copy of that component which I then need to modify?  In the EDA world there is something called parametrized cells (PCELLS/PyCells) where parameters get assigned when you place an instance of that cell. There is only one "master" component which can be modified and then all instances would get updated. Meaning the individual instances can't be edited other than changing their public parameters.

I could see something like this very useful in Fusion 360? Any suggestions how to do it or about the feature I'm talking about?

Thanks!

The feature set you are describing is called Configurations. Solid Works, Autodesk Inventor (called iParts there), ZW3D, Alibre Design all have variations of this implemented.

Fusion 360 does not have that.

Workarounds exist for some subset of this. If you post a model then someone might help you with those. I personally have run out of patience to explain yet another workaround. At least for today 😉

"Configurations" - That was the missing word ... and as it looks a most wanted feature 😉 At least I can search now and get results.

Thanks a lot for clarifying!
