Clean DWG/DXF Export from Fusion360?

Does any one on the development side know if anyone is working on the ability to export clean geometry out of Fusion 360 was a .dxf and .dwg?  Having to export then go into True View to convert is terribly inefficient.

From your A360 hub you should be able to export either DWG or DXF of the geometry.

The ability is there.  However, the geometry does not convert and is broken, requiring you to open in Ture View, convert it to a previous version.  Then you have to run the EXPORT LAYOUT command once you get it into AutoCAD  or it to actually show up correctly.  Not a very efficient approach.  I don't know what version of .dwg or .dxf Fusion is creating output for.  Might be only the most recently version by default.  If really needs the ability to save out in a file format that earlier versions of ACAD can interpret.  Fusion is promoted as an efficient solution for workflow optimization, however something as basic as saving to a .dxf or .dgw which ACAD has been doing forever, seems counter to the core values of what Fusion 360 is trying to accomplish.

Are you talking about 2D or 3D exports ?

I have found the issue while trying to save out both 2D and 3D.

Here is the message that I get.

The question of whether it's 2d or 3d is also super important.

I've never worked with 3d DXFs, and I can only give an answer as deep as I've made it into the software, but I hope this helps somehow.

For a 2d object, or an object that can easily be made 2d, it's probably easiest to select a face, and create a sketch on it. You can project onto the sketch anything that you want to add. Then right click the sketch in the browser and choose "export as DXF".

I did this to create several drawings, and sent them to a laser cutter. No issues. My product is on its way!
