Circle on a radius side

Im creating a simple shaft collar.  I drew the collar and extruded to size.  I need to place a set screw hole on the side of the collar radius and I can't select the radius to draw on.  The circle is always placed behind the part I have drawn.

How do I draw of the side of a radius?  Thanks.

Hey,

Not sure exactly what you are trying to do. My understanding is that you want to want to create a hole on the radial face of your extrusion.

If that is the case I would recommend constructing a plane tangent to a face, and select the face that you want to have the hole in. From there you would be able to draw and create what you like.

Let me know if that works.

Cheers,

A picture is worth a thousand words!  A screen shot or some other visual information would be helpful in understanding you issue.

There are ways of getting a construction plane tangent to a cylinder surface, but if we understand what your asking for correctly, that wouldn't be strictly necessary to achieve what you want.  Attached is a screen cast of what it sounds like your trying to do.  By taking advantage of the settings available in the extrude command,  you don't have to create multiple planes and sketches.

If this isn't what you want, upload a screen shot or your file.

Hi,

Even if the circle ( hole ) you sketch is behind the surface, you can use extrude from object to have it start from the surface you want
