Canvas: how to copy and paste?

How can I copy and paste a canvas image from one opened document (project) to another? So it maintains it's position in space and scale, and opacity.

I'm working on a large model and it's become too slow to work on directly so I make parts in separate projects and copy and paste them back into the larger model.

If this is not possible then I will create a new version of the large model, and delete everything except for the canvases. Then use that file to make the new parts.

The only object that can be copied and pasted between documents is a component.

I can't find a way to move a  canvas from the root into a sub component. It's not like a body or sketch in this regard.

So if you're canvases are all at the root you will need to re-create them, or insert the entire design into another.

If you are making new designs and want this ability, then use the Activate Component workflow:

1. RMB the root of the browser > New Component

2. Click the radio button on the new component in the browser. Hover over the node to see it.

Now the new component is active. All new sketches, bodies, canvas, etc will be placed into it as long as it's active. You can copy and paste it into other documents. A side benefit is that components made this way will bring all their history along when pasted.

Excellent! Thanks for that. I'm totally impressed with the fast response, on a Sunday no less.
From now on I will make my canvases inside of an active component rather then in the root.
It's been a year since I've used Fusion, just getting back into it, and totally forgot about copying and pasting components. I was copying bodies and pasting them into the new file in Create Base Feature mode. Thanks again.

I orginally sent this reply via my gmail but it didn't get posted here. The Kudos button  and Mark as Solution buttons both worked from my gmail but not the Reply button. Unless there is a delay.
