Cannot type symbols such as multiply *

It is very annoying that I cannot type the multiply symbol * (upper case star) while dimensioning in a sketch. Many times I need to write a formula such as 2*d5. The shortcut only works in parameters window or if I copy and paste it. This problem occurred on different computers and operating systems. Is there some setting I can change or is this how it always worked?

Thanks,

– Yevi

Probably its a Mac bug. I just tried the regular option+shift+comma for that symbol and it strangely worked after I accidentally hit option+comma first to produce the "–" symbol. After that is could make the "*" but attempting to do it again fails.

@Anonymous, I was able to use "2*d1" on Mac.  However, you may be running into this:  https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/unable-to-multiply-or-subtract-with-parameters/m-p/8212695#M33585, if you are trying to do "d1*d2".  See that thread for an explanation of why.

I figured it out, it's a bug for Hungarian keyboard layouts. If I switch to the US keyboard I can hit Shift+8 for "*" and it does it easily. But when I'm in the Hungarian layout, to produce the "*" for every other program I have to hit Option+Shift+"," and that does not work immediately in Fusion. I can do the "*" only if I do the symbol that has the Option+"," combo before and do the Option+Shift+"," combo after that, and delete the other character.

Not optimal, but at least I can do it now. I will write a report and hopefully I can get a fix soon.

Thanks,
