Cannot Move a Component

I am working on moving a few stock parts that I have inserted into a larger assembly.  For some reason, I am unable to rotate the component.  I can access the "Move" command and move the component, but when I attempt to rotate it, only the pivot point itself rotates.

There are currently no joints on the component.

There is likely something that I am missing, but I have no idea what it is.  Any ideas?

I figured it out; it has to do with the "Set Pivot" dialogue.

thanks @neljoshua.  This UI problem is something we've struggled with.  Set Pivot is modal, so you have to get out of the mode to go back from "moving the triad" to "moving the object".  We've discussed making Set Pivot be less modal (like popping back out as soon as you pick something), but then we have a different problem - if you want to move the triad using the triad itself, then we have to have this "moving the triad" vs "moving the object" switch...

Anyway, glad you figured it out.  And, if you have some preference about how you'd like this to work, let us know.

That is good feedback.  It makes sense now that I think about it.

As you asked my preference, when I select "Move", I almost always want to move the object based on the global axes.  That said, in my estimation, that should be the default for everything.  The "Set Pivot" option is nice to have in case this is not what you want.  It is interesting, as when I select some components, the pivot/origin is set already, but when I select others, it is not.   Perhaps this could be changed.

I have the same problem, it seems like this is a very basic feature thats not accessible. Any Component i import from an external File, is not movable or cannot be rotated. Clicking on the set pivot does not help - can someone port a screenshot how the fix this problem?

I cannot move components. The screen shot does not show the dialogue box, but I made sure the component was selected.
