Cannot make subassembies

Hello, 

I got to a point where I tried to consolidate my components. I click and drag on the componted and attempt to drop it on another component and it wont create the subassembly. How can I fix this? I tried different components and they wont work eitgher.

Fusion takes a different approach on assemblies and subassemblies creating a composite design using one workspace. You can insert other designs into your current design by right clicking on the model in the data panel and selecting insert.  We are working on distributed designs where the insertion of other models is referenced data that you can update. This functionality is slated for our June 20th update.  Let me know if you would like to do a screen share where I can walk through the process with you.

Definitely stay tuned for the next release which brings Distributed Design, as Mike mentioned above. Just a quick follow-up question for you: Are you trying to drag components in the Browswer on the left-hand side, or are you dragging the components themselves in the 3D workspace?

In my experience, to create a "sub-assembly" I will:

• Right-click on the top level of my design in the Browser
• Select New Component
• Drag my desired component names (in the browser) into my new placeholder component
• The component icon should then change to the sub-assembly icon (images below for reference)

After creating Component 3 (my place-holder component for my sub-assembly):

After dragging Part A and Part B components into Component 3:

I have the same problem.  Halfway through a design and I can no longer drag and drop components into a new component folder in order to create a sub-assembly.  The action will work if I test the exact same process in a new design, but not in the design I'm needing it to work in.

My process

• Activate top level component
• Right-click on the top level of my design in the Browser
• Select New Component
• Drag my desired component names (in the browser) into my new placeholder component

The dragged component simply will not drop into the New Component.

I would screencast it for you, but the app no longer wants to open???

Perhaps make a new thread. This will usually yield better feedback than a old thread.

If you can share your design in that new thread it would also like speed up the problem resolution.
