Cannot inmport a .dwg file created in 123D

i cannot upload a dwg file that a friend of mine created in 123D into fusion?

Need more info, does it error out? Can the friend export a different format and try importing that? Maybe a Step or IGES?

in the upload window it just states "fail"

There are several 123D programs, which one was this file created in?  Can you email me the file so that I can take a look at it?

I assume you're using 123D Design. I made a video awhile back showing an easy way to convert to Fusion 360.  See if this helps!
