cannot find component

Hi,

I've been going through case studies in Fusion 360 School youtube channel. Because of editable document limit, I'm modelling each study as a component. To cleanup the clutter in my component tree, yesterday I've created component named "case studies" and moved first 7 case studies into this component.  Today, I've reopened document and "case studies" component is not visible in component tree and all case studies are back in where they were before. When I tried to recreate "case studies" component, F360 added (1) suffix, which signifies, that this component already exists.  But it's not available anywhere in component tree.  How can I find it? Is this a bug?

I've uploaded screenshot of my document tree to https://imgur.com/nCL4Khf

public link to the document is https://a360.co/32hCcSF

Here is the document. I've been playing with the document a bit and found how to "fix" the issue. If you activate component "case study 7", you'll see that timeline is moved approximately to middle of performed operations. If you move it to the very end, then component tree suddenly changes and all missing components reappear. WTF is going on? If something like this happened with a model that's not used just to practice F360 features, I'd be really angry.

What you are seeing is correct. But my F360 is showing me something different. Here is what I'm getting after opening saved file.

Is there a way to hide component from document tree?

Hi,

1. The screenshot shows the state before copying the components into the folder "Case Studies".
2. If the cursor is positioned in the middle of the timeline when saving, for example, the file will also be displayed at this position when restarting.

Tip: Activate Case Studies and all components in it (visible) > Move the cursor to the end of the timeline > Save.

"If you activate component "case study 7", you'll see that timeline is moved approximately to middle of performed operations. "

Component activation never moves the timeline marker.  If it does, that is a serious bug.  To see the timeline clearly, activate the root component, or disable "Hide all inactive features":

This setting only filters the timeline item to show those owned by the active component.  The rest of the timeline items are still there, just not displayed.

When I opened the design you shared, the timeline marker is positioned in the middle of the timeline:

If I compute to the end of the timeline, all components come back, as you've observed.  Remember, component creation and restructure is, itself, a timeline entry, and if you move the marker before that component is created, it will not show up in the browser.

I activated Study7 and it does not move the timeline marker.  However, as above, if you have the "hide inactive" option set, it will filter the timeline.  If, at that point, you drag the timeline marker, you WILL be moving it relative to the visible items, which can move it in big increments if you have inactive features hidden.  That is one of the reasons why I usually disable this option.

Thanks everyone.  Looks like it's a feature, not a bug. Rolling back timeline inside component affects global timeline as well.  This behavior may be kind of confusing for new F360 users.

Therefore, correct workflow when editing old components is first copy the component and paste it as new component, and make necessary changes in the copy.
