Cannot export dxf fillet - transformed into chamfer

Hi,

I have a body to which I have applied a fillet.  To create a dxf I first create a sketch, project the face of the part and save the sketch as a dxf.  However, when I re-import the dxf the fillet has been transformed into a chamfer.

DXF export from sheet metal flat pattern has an option to convert splines to polylines. The polylines are segmented like your examples.

Are you exporting DXF from a flat pattern? If so, uncheck the option to convert splines to polylines.

If not, how are you exporting the dxf? And is the fillet G2?

Hi,

I'm not working in sheet metal, these are ply parts to be cut on a cnc table.  To create the dxf I start with a sketch, choosing the face of the part which interests me as the plane, then project that face from the sketch menu.  I then use the 'Save dxf' feature using the context menu, (right click over the newly created sketch in the Browser).  The dxf is then uploaded to the Fusion web site via the browser from where it can be accessed by my colleagues.  I have done this many, many times, all our production running through this process. 

However...  I am working on two computers and today, on a different Fusion installation, I am not experiencing this difficulty, having just tested the same part without having made any changes.  I will re-install next time I am on the workstation giving me the problem and report back.

Yeah I thought it was a fluke. What Phill mentioned I think is not part of the normal export sketch as DXF

but part of sheet-metal generated DXF and drawing generated DXF.

I don't think re-installing will make any difference. If you can determine any steps to reproduce, I'll gladly log the bug. I gave it a try in our development builds and cannot reproduce.

I've had the same problem! If i remember it was with G2 fillets! Also I saw someone else on a facebook group who had the same problem!

Can you share the model and the output DXF here?  What software are you reading the DXF into that shows the "chamfer"?  That could also be a source of the problem.  DXF supports a wide range of primitive types, and not all consumers of DXF support all object types.  Have you tried bringing that DXF back into Fusion?  How about other applications that can accept DXF?  There is this free online DXF viewer:  https://viewer.autodesk.com/, and I tried uploading an exported Fusion DXF from a block with fillets and it came in OK:

I have this problem with the simplest of models.  Any model with a fillet will do.

I download the dxf to my desktop from Fusion then upload the dxf to my hub in Fusion via the browser.  I am not stepping out of the Fusion environment except to download/upload - it is not currently possible to save directly within Fusion as dxf, only download.

Here are the exact steps but, like you, cannot reproduce this on the workstation behind which I currently sit.

• Create sketch, choosing the face of the part which interests me as the plane
• Project a face from the sketch menu. (Selection Filter = Specified Entries) Close Sketch menu.
• 'Save dxf' using the context menu, (right click over the newly created sketch in the Browser).  Download to desktop
• Open my Fusion hub in a browser and drag the dxf from the desktop to upload.
• View the dxf in the browser to see the problem. (Source of my previous screenshots)

I of course have subsequently checked the dxf in other CAD packages and they all show chamfers instead of fillets.  I will go over this again but am still not back at the workstation with the problem... tomorrow maybe.

Thanks, @-Nick- for the information that you are re-importing the design back to Fusion.  That is an important piece of information.  I have not been able to reproduce this in my environment.  I would very much like to see one of your dxf files when you get a chance.  Thanks!

Hi,

I am back at the workstation where this occurred and I am happy to say that I can no longer reproduce the problem. I am 99.9% sure I am repeating the exact same steps but the result is a correct dxf. In between times, I have rebooted, windows has updated, (yet again), and I think Fusion has updated too so who knows.

I will repost if it starts again.

The problem occurred for me again this morning! I ended up with downloading the dxf polyline plugin and got an correct dxf output! When i try to reproduce it now it export fine in the normal way...

Bumping an old thread lacking a solution: I had the same problem importing an F360 dxf into Cricut Design Space - fillets were imported as chamfers and a portion of the profile was missing. I changed my fillets from G1 to G2 and now the entire profile is correctly captured including the curves.
