Cannot close 2 surfaces

I tried my hand at surface modeling and went okay, I think, until it got to the point where I wanted to divide it into seperate objects. I managed to get the face done, but for the body of the frame I am now sitting with 2 "shells", one inside the other, but I cannot fill the gap between the two shells. The project can be found here : http://a360.co/2DIMKcq

It's basically an egg cut in half, that is offset to the inside of the egg, and I need to fill the gap between the 2 shells, except the egg is a bit deformed. (trying my best to explain the situation). Under normal conditions I would just use "thicken" but the shell has to match the face that needs to clip onto the body.

If anyone can help with this it will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Something like this?  (see attached)

Are there any issues indicated in your Timeline?

Thank you and yes - that is what I was looking for. Could you maybe give me a quick rundown of what you did and what you might have found that I did wrong? To be honest, I am still starting out and getting to grips with Fusion 360. You mentioning errors in the timeline? I am guessing that those would be highlighted in red? How do I see what the actual problem is?

I really appreciate the fix and would like to learn and understand what I did wrong.

You've made this unnecessarily hard on yourself.

The problem already starts with the T-Spline, which is not clean. If you start with good base geometry, things are going to be much easier down the road.

I spent a few minutes cleaning the topology and will create a screencast later:

Before <-> After

Wow! So much to learn 🙂 I realised too late that I have over complicated things. Did you simplify the existing model or re-create it? My problem came when I wanted to cut away the "lid" from the surface... everything went pear shaped from there LOL!

Thank you for the input and help!

Here's the silent screencast. I simplified.

I am speechless... Thank you for the effort you put in here. I will be going over the screencast several times. What I really appreciate is that you fixed problems instead of starting over - that is a lot more educational for me. I have learnt A LOT from this and I cannot express my gratitude enough.
