Can't split body: No intersection between target(s) and split tool.

Hello, I am having problems splitting a body and hoping there is a solution. I created a toroidal ring and lofted a connector into it, and at the time, didn't realize I had allowed it to join. Unfortunately now, I can't split it using the toroidal surface, I keep getting the mentioned error even though the connector was lofted into the center of the ring. Hoping there is a way to fix this other than re-creating it.

Can be done without the timeline but result may be unexpected.
