Can't open an old Fusion360 file

Hi,

I'm trying to open a pretty simple assembly. I last saved it in Dec, 2016. I can open the 3 subcomponents, but when I try to open the assembly in the Desktop app, Fusion 360 crashes. I can open the assembly in the web app but I need to use the Desktop app to make changes.

I downloaded the Fusion archive file from web app, but can't figure out how to open it in the Desktop app. Is this possible?

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community!

Hmm, I'll take a peek at the crash error reports (have you submitted them after crashing?)  to see what might be going on. In the meantime, you can use the upload feature in the data panel in Fusion 360 to upload the archive file. It will then bring in all the necessary files for the assembly. Does this assembly seem to open once you upload it again or does it still crash?

Thanks,

Hi James,

Thanks for having a look. Yes - I sent multiple crash reports last night.

The archive file opened fine. I tried the original file and it still
crashes (sent that crash report too). I am okay for tonight but would
prefer to solve the issue with the original file since I otherwise lose the
history of that file (33 versions)
