Can't make a surface white

I create a color as RGB 255 255 255 and apply to a surface.

The surface becomes the default part color NOT white.

This is a bug. Any thoughts on a workaround?

Much appreciated.

Can you share your model so we can see what's going on?

Hi @Anonymous,

The first workaround that comes to mind would be to go to Appearance and use one of the white finishes available in Plastic > Opaque. I use those a lot for quick coloring.

Is there a particular material you have your part assigned as? I was able to change the color of a test cylinder to RGB 255 255 255 with the material set to steel and to plastic with no problems. I did need to place a "background" body behind my test cylinder to double check that the color changed-- it was a little difficult to tell whether the color change worked when the cylinder was by itself.

I also want to note that the Model workspace doesn't always display colors as they will show up if you render your design. The two pictures below are of the same test cylinder in the Model workspace and then in the Render workspace.

Hope this helps!

Material is ABS White.
Changed Appearance of Body to black. This is OK.
Then create a new color = white.
Apply white to a single face.
It does nothing.

Hi @Anonymous,

Here's a screencast of what I just tried; I was not able to replicate your problem. Can you make a quick screencast of what you're doing so I can see?

Hi,
I have a part file. It demonstrates that 255, 255, 255 are not displayed as
white. It is displayed as beige.
Where / how can I get you the file?
Thanks

It's beige because it's affected by sorrunding environment (the environment it self is invisible). First change apperance to chrome, and you will see reflection. Then change  Environment in Display Settings (menu bar at the bottom of window). Each will have diffrent effect on white material and will have different reflection.

There is no option for Chrome under appearance.
